Pretenses.

I HATE pretenses.

What should be said and shouldn't,
and worrying about what people might think if
I say something honestly, explaining situations
that apparently shouldn't be explained for no
other reason than,

"they are probably going to
think poorly of me because you
said you were babysitting
and couldn't come".

STOP WORRYING ABOUT IT!

Your sister isn't going to hate you because I tell
her how hard I'm working to pay my way through
college.

Why can't we treat each other like REAL people?
It's OK to have a life you know?
You don't have to worry about appearances with
everyone. ESPECIALLY family.

I hate pretenses.

Babies are special

Heaven is captured in a newborns eyes.

My little sister is a testament to the fact that the Savior lives.
She is two years old and she bears testimony of him on a daily basis.

but then...

She has even as an infant.

I have a picture of Jesus Christ sitting on my bedside table.

One day while I was watching my sister
who was very young at the time, not even a year old,
I took her down to my room and was standing with her
near my bedside table
making my bed one handed

And she suddenly was leaning forward, pointing,
And calling out.

Unsure of what she wanted I stepped closer
and leaned her forward to see what she would point to
She was pointing at the picture of Christ.

Tears filled my eyes as I handed her the picture
And she took it from me

And gave him a kiss.

Before she said hardly any words other than Mom or Dad
Sophie knew Jesus,
Of course we said Jesus's name on occasion but babies
usually learn through repetition, that's why it made more sense
for her to be saying Mom or Dad

But she knew him.
She kissed him every time she saw a picture of him.

And now today, Sophie has a picture of Jesus in her room
and no matter who goes to get her after she's woken up
in the morning, she always points to the picture and says

"Jesus Love's Me."

102 years is a LONG time

So, my great grandpa is 102 years old. I mean, that's super old, in anyone's book!

I think I can now officially say that I am not very old
and neither are your 40+ year old parents
or even your 70 year old grandparents!
They still have 30 years to go!

I just thought I would share that,
So now you can go tell your parents
that they still have quite a ways to go

No need for one of those midlife crisis's quite yet :)

Not much to say...

Most blogs become popular if you have something to offer...

Good advice perhaps?
A terrible happenstance?
Or maybe you are just cool like that.
I'm pretty sure no one reads my blog but that's OK
this blog is for ME.
A journal of sorts
So I'm going to start blogging more

just for me.
Even though I have

Not much to say...

So. Here I am backstage during yet another run of Pride and Prejudice... Thought I would post something. Someone said something to me that really inspired me, being the theater junkie that I am.

"This life is the best play that we will ever put on, so know your part and play it well."

Puppies for sale

A store owner was tacking a sign above his door that read “Puppies For Sale.”

Signs like that have a way of attracting small children, and sure enough, a little boy appeared under the store owner’s sign. “How much are you going to sell the puppies for?” he asked.

The store owner replied, “Anywhere from $30 to $50.”

The little boy reached in his pocket and pulled out some change. “I have $2.37,” he said. “Can I please look at them?”

The store owner smiled and whistled and out of the kennel came Lady, who ran down the aisle of his store followed by five teeny, tiny balls of fur.

One puppy was lagging considerably behind. Immediately the little boy singled out the lagging, limping puppy and said, “What’s wrong with that little dog?”

The store owner explained that the veterinarian had examined the little puppy and had discovered it didn’t have a hip socket. It would always limp. It would always be lame.

The little boy became excited. “That is the puppy that I want to buy.”

The store owner said, “No, you don’t want to buy that little dog. If you really want him, I’ll just give him to you.”

The little boy got quite upset. He looked straight into the store owner’s eyes, pointing his finger, and said, “I don’t want you to give him to me. That little dog is worth every bit as much as all the other dogs and I’ll pay full price. In fact, I’ll give you $2.37 now, and 50 cents a month until I have him paid for.”

The store owner countered, “You really don’t want to buy this little dog. He is never going to be able to run and jump and play with you like the other puppies.”

To his surprise, the little boy reached down and rolled up his pant leg to reveal a badly twisted, crippled left leg supported by a big metal brace.

He looked up at the store owner and softly replied, “Well, I don’t run so well myself, and the little puppy will need someone who understands!”

We all need someone who Understands!
